Virtual Editing Livestream w/ Joaquín Elizondo
Calling all aspiring filmmakers! Join us on Saturday December 19th, 12:30PM for a very special livestream where you can learn all about film and TV editing from industry professional, Joaquín Elizondo (Narcos: Mexico). This virtual lesson is FREE but registration is suggested so we can contact you about our upcoming educational livestream sessions! This one hour virtual class will include the following:
Part I: Introduction (10 minutes)
– Background about Joaquín Elizondo (Education, Career in Film / TV )
– Tips for emerging filmmakers on how to get into the business
Part II: Editing (30 minutes)
– Joaquín’s personal philosophy about editing
– Importance of editing in film/tv
– Joaquín will share examples of his own editing (and share feedback)
– Demo: Joaquín’s process to beginning the editing process (Program used: Avid)
Part III: Influences ( 20 minutes)
– Joaquín will select three scenes that have inspired him. He will share his screen and offer feedback on the edits.

Joaquín Elizondo Bio:
Joaquin Elizondo has almost 20 years of experience as an editor and currently works in the world of feature films and scripted TV shows. His most recent editing credits are Narcos: Mexico (Netflix), and the feature film, Soundwave. Before arriving in Los Angeles, Joaquin worked in unscripted television for several years in New York City where he edited content for HBO Sports, NBC, Telemundo, and was the lead editor on Bravo’s late-night talk show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
Joaquin majored in Film & Video Studies at the University of Michigan and grew up in the San Diego-Tijuana border region. As someone who has sought out and benefited from mentoring, Joaquin is now taking on the role of mentor by helping aspiring editors and assistants in navigating the path to achieving their career goals. He created the Hollywood Editing Mentor program and podcast (hollywoodeditingmentor.com
) to provide guidance and support for those trying to break into or advance their careers in post production.
