Penélope Cruz leads an all-star cast, including Javier Cámara and Chino Darín, in the comically ingenious LA REINA DE ESPAÑA, Fernando Trueba’s follow-up to LA NIÑA DE TUS OJOS.
A sultry Spanish film star (Penélope Cruz) and an eclectic cast of actors must rescue a long-time friend when he is kidnapped in the middle of the biggest American-Spanish co-production of the year during the Golden Age of the Hollywood studio system. This comedy set in the 1950s is the sequel to the award-winning and critically-acclaimed film THE GIRL OF YOUR DREAMS.
Critic Quotes:
“The Queen of Spain, a light ensemble romp from the veteran director Fernando Trueba, has fun with movie lore even as it pillories Hollywood’s deal-making with the Francisco Franco regime in the 1950s.” – The New York Times
“It’s fun, involving off-set sexual escapades and a scheme to rescue a back-from-the-dead film director from a work camp.” – Globe and Mail
“The Queen of Spain” looks terrific and features a warm, glamorous performance by Penélope Cruz…” – The Los Angeles Times
