The Asian Film Festival 2018, a traveling film festival featuring five of the most popular and acclaimed recently-released Asian movies, arrives in San Diego this November! SDAFF 2018 Presents: The Island (November 16)

Dir. Tuan Andrew Nguyen. (Vietnam, 2018, 42 Min., Vietnamese W/ English Subtitles)

Fresh from the Whitney Biennial, a stunning film that weaves historical footage, interviews, and speculative fiction focused entirely on Pulau Bidong, an uninhabitable island that from 1978-1991 became the largest refugee camp post-Vietnam War. Monumental ruins and national debate mix with mythology as the last man on earth encounters a UN scientist washed ashore. Preceded by short film HOÀI (ONGOING, MEMORY).
