This enigmatic and surrealist survival story reimagines the legend of Saint Anthony of Padua through a queer lens, resulting in a mesmerizing and unforgettable experience directed by Portuguese provocateur João Pedro Rodrigues. Fernando, a solitary ornithologist, is looking for black storks when he is swept away by the rapids. Rescued by a couple of Chinese pilgrims, he plunges into an eerie and dark forest, trying to get back on track.
While on a bird surveying trip, an ornithologist’s boat capsizes and he is rescued by two female Chinese pilgrims, who force him into extreme behavior to survive a series of brutal tests.

“[A] dynamic, oddly joyful movie.” – The Village Voice
“This gorgeously realized feature, shot entirely outdoors, explores the agony and ecstasy of a birdwatcher called Fernando, whose encounters after an accident in a nature reserve start to echo elements of the life of Anthony of Padua.” – The Hollywood Reporter
“Poças and Rodrigues rework Saint Anthony’s expedition with a bold concept that seeks to express the essence of an experience, rather than its physical reality.” – Little White Lies
