Intimate Epics: The Films of Patrick Wang
Whenever the American auteur Patrick Wang releases a new film, it’s an event. His masterful debut In the Family premiered to much acclaim in 2011, and it began a run of “Intimate Epics” that have taken a completely unique look at social interaction in the 21st century, so densely filled with honest moments and deep feelings that they can take years and multiple viewings to fully appreciate. Each film is a singular expression of Wang’s interests – community, ethics, kindness, and family – ultimately becoming genre-defying experiments in tone and form that always take a hopeful view of humanity’s future. Throughout August the DGC will be presenting all of Wang’s film’s on the big screen, including his latest, an audacious single-actor biopic about the influential French poet simply titled A. Rimbaud.
Digital Gym Cinema is proud to host the inaugural US theatrical engagement for Patrick Wang’s latest film, A. Rimbaud. Join us for a special introduction by Paola Capó-García, San Diego Poet Laureate 2025-2027, before our 5:15 PM screening of A. Rimbaud on Sunday, August 16.
