Synopsis: Two down-on-their-luck Americans (Humphrey Bogart and Tim Holt) searching for work in 1920s Mexico convince an old prospector to help them mine for gold in the Sierra Madre Mountains. Bogart delivers one of his finest performances and John Huston directed his father Walter to an Oscar for best supporting actor. Huston also garnered his own awards for best director and best screenplay. SDSU professor and author of Tex[t]-Mex: Seductive Hallucinations of “Mexicans” in America, William Nericcio will be in person to introduce the film.
