Director: Benjamin Flaherty Run Time: 82 min. Release Year: 2025

On Friday, February 27, our friends at A New PATH will be co-presenting our 5:15 showing of SHUFFLE. Arrive early to gain Narcan (Naloxone) training in our lobby from Elon Burns, Overdose Prevention Specialist CADAC II. They will also provide naloxone, fentanyl test strips, and more opioid prevention and response resources.

Synopsis: Shot over three years, SHUFFLE follows three individuals whose lives depend not on entering treatment, but on getting out alive. The film exposes the insurance-fueled cycle of addiction treatment fraud that’s spreading across the country. Using his own experience as a guide, the filmmaker narrates personal stories that serve as a framework for a broader investigation. With the help of an FBI informant, an insurance analyst, and the former executive director of a Philadelphia-based treatment facility, SHUFFLE uncovers a web of public policy and private interests preying on a vulnerable population for profit.

A New PATH works to reduce the stigma associated with substance use disorder through education and compassionate support and to advocate for therapeutic rather than punitive drug policies.
Since 2014 A New PATH has trained over 39,000 individuals in San Diego County how to recognize and respond to an opioid related overdose with the use of naloxone. We have 3,508 opioid overdose reversals reported through our distribution efforts in partnership with the County of San Diego.
